Clinician - State Hospital North

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has an opening for a Clinician at State Hospital North. Example of Duties
  • Perform assessments, evaluations, observations, and interviews using a variety of assessment tools to identify needs and formulate diagnostic impressions
  • Develop treatment plans, and recommend services and interventions
  • Provide direct counseling to individuals, families, or groups
  • Provides clinical case management services
  • Formulates assessment and therapeutic recommendations, prepares findings, diagnostic impressions and recommendations
  • may select, score, administer and interpret psychological tests
  • Provide crisis intervention support

State Hospital North (Idaho's mental health treatment facility, located in Orofino): Clinicians typically receive mental health referrals and applications; conduct intake interviews; conduct service assessments, assess for risk and safety issues per agency mandates and priority; counsel clients; coordinate with and initiate referrals to community partner agencies in accessing community-based services for clients; provide clinical consultation to agency staff, private service providers and other state and community partner agencies; testify in court; and document all case activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree (or higher) in a direct clinical practice Human Services field is required for this position. (Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric nursing, or very closely related field of study.)
  • This position requires licensure in one of following: Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Licensed Pastoral Counselors (LPAS), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC), and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists (LMFT).
