Entry Level Engineer

Working both independently and as part of a team (or teams) to ensure that all aspects of safety are appropriately categorized, designed, and controlled to support the safety basis of a given the facility. This is vital for the protection of the worker, co-located worker, public, and environment from inherent process hazards including radiological and chemical hazards. 

This role performs interdisciplinary work necessary to satisfy requirements of 10 CFR 830 as implemented by DOE Order 420.1C. The selected candidate will prepare and document the safety analysis to support the Fuel Development Laboratory Extension facility at the Knolls Laboratory. 

Typical assignments include:
  • Performing document reviews of project facility safety analysis and safety related key decisions, 
  • Planning and executing discreet analysis,
  • Performing evaluations, both qualitative and quantitative of system, structure, and component (SSCs) for safety classification,
  • Chemical or materials evaluations, design reviews, and analysis of vendor's procedures and systems for quality control or manufacturing surveillance.

Required Skills *

Associate:
  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university required.
 
Intermediate:
  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or
  • MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year of relevant experience; or
  • Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
  • SRE Qualification

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of the NNPP program and DOE facility safety knowledge.
