BOWEN Research Assistant-Graduate Student Level

The Bowen Center for Health Workforce Research and Policy aims to advance policies which improve human health and well-being through commitment to regular data analysis, reporting, and research. Located in the Department of Family Medicine at the IU School of Medicine, the Bowen Center provides high quality, impartial, policy-relevant research on the health workforce to assist Federal, State and community leaders in understanding health workforce capacity and needs.

The Bowen Center is seeking a part-time research assistant to work with a dynamic and diverse team of staff and faculty researchers. The research assistant will assist staff members in data collection, development of data tables, and drafting reports for various types of projects. The qualified candidate for this position will be a highly motivated graduate student with very strong background in writing, communication and data management.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Draft and edit reports
Participate in project discussions
Conduct literature reviews and manage bibliography database
Assist with data collection and management
Apply critical thinking to identify and narrate data trends
Create tables and figures to illustrate the results of data-related projects

EXPECTED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel
Working knowledge of bibliography database software, such as EndNote
Working knowledge of data management software such as SAS
Ability to communicate effectively, eloquently, and concisely in fluent English, written and verbal form
Strong analytical and technical writing skills
Attention to detail
Ability to work and act independently
Ability to interact with co-workers and supervisor in a professional working environment
