Identity Laboratory Assistant

Department overview: One of the first human genetics departments in the country, the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at IU School of Medicine has a rich history of training geneticists and genetic counselors and providing genetic consultation and counseling services. The department contributes to the understanding of numerous genetic conditions through the integration of basic research in genetic and genomic mechanisms, translational research in disease models, and clinical trials in rare and common genetic diseases.

Position: Identity Lab Assistant
Job Tasks:
80% Bench
Create 1:8 dilution plates on the biomek i5
Assist in running IFCs on the biomek i5
Assist in Creating input reagents
Assist in the usage of excel sheets in order to do QC for samples that have been processed
Assist with other tasks, as assigned
20% Misc
Pull/restore samples in TK
Autoclave
Lab Hygiene
Inventory lab supplies

Candidates must possess:
Attention to detail.
Ability to receive instruction and work independently.
Excellent work ethic.
No experience necessary.
Must have basic computer skills; prefer experience using databases. Must show initiative, personal responsibility and organization, ability to work/communicate effectively with multiple supervisors.
