Merchandising and Marketing Assistant

General Purpose of Position:
The merchandising and marketing role will offer current IUPUI students the opportunity to develop and implement merchandising strategies within our Museum Store as well as work with KVML’s marketing team on creative marketing promotions. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
50% Working with KVML’s Museum Store staff on sales tracking, increasing profitability through new product introduction, researching trends, providing feedback on shipping and merchandising, and more.
   
   20% Working with KVML’s marketing team on creative promotion of programs, merchandise, and membership.
   
   20% Learning about Kurt Vonnegut and how to conduct a tour of the building
   
   10% All KVML employees learn how to process a payment at the museum store, help visitors with questions or answer questions through email, assist in decorating the building for events, staff festival tables, and a host of random tasks. No one at KVML says, “That’s not my job” because sometimes the task is required from whomever is available to help.
   
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
   Possess at least a sophomore status at IUPUI (26+ completed credit hours)
   Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater.
   Must be reliable and able to manage time to work on multiple projects.
   Must be able to work independently and on a team
   Must occasionally be willing to work on weekends, if necessary
   Must possess excellent time management and organization skills
   Willingness to work within the office setting during some portion of the workweek.
   Professionalism
   Excellent grammar/proofreading skills
   
   Preferred Qualifications
   Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs and Google Business applications.
   Experience creating charts and graphics, visually appealing reports
   Communications, marketing, business, or nonprofit management coursework and majors preferred.
   Good working knowledge of best business practices and basic bookkeeping skills necessary.
   General office management skills and ability to handle cash and other negotiable instruments.
   Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
