General Purpose of Position:
The Assistant to the CEO is an advanced opportunity for current IUPUI students to learn more about nonprofit leadership by assisting the CEO on preparation for meetings for KVML’s Board of Directors, Board Committees, and other meetings with organizations regarding content, scheduling, note taking, and more.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
50% Working with KVML CEO on meeting preparation, scheduling, organizing board documents, brainstorming, fundraising administration, note-taking, organizing files, etc.
20% Learning about Kurt Vonnegut and how to conduct a tour of the building
20% Proofreading documents and writing documents, letters, thank-you cards, and more.
10% All KVML employees learn how to process a payment at the museum store, help visitors with questions or answer questions through email, assist in decorating the building for events, staff festival tables, and a host of random tasks. No one at KVML says, “That’s not my job” because sometimes the task is required from whomever is available to help.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
Possess at least a sophomore status at IUPUI (26+ completed credit hours)
Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater.
Must be reliable and able to manage time to work on multiple projects.
Must be able to work independently and on a team
Must occasionally be willing to work on weekends, if necessary
Must possess excellent time management and organization skills
Willingness to work within the office setting during some portion of the workweek (many of the hours can be worked from offsite – intern and CEO will communicate weekly regarding this schedule).
Professionalism
Excellent grammar/proofreading skills
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs and Google Business applications/Gmail calendaring.
Knowledge of Doodle and Zoom
Experience creating charts and graphics, visually appealing reports
Communications, marketing, business, or nonprofit management coursework and majors preferred.
