CEA Program: Community Engagement Associate for the Digital Education Hub in the School of Education

Project summary:
The Digital Education Hub, part of the School of Education at IUPUI, is a project to support families, communities, teachers, and schools through the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. We have a Community Caucus of nearly 40 community members that we work with to support equitable and inclusive learning environments for all children of Indiana.

Specific tasks that the community engagement associate will complete: 
The Associate will assist in communications and scheduling full-group, small-group, and individual (remote) meetings; help to plan agendas and activities for Community Caucus meetings; participate in remote meetings by assisting with technology and keeping notes; discussing ways in which educational environments can better serve communities and families.

Specific qualifications (knowledge, skills, class standing, etc) we desire the project coordinator to have:
The Digital Education Hub is highly collaborative and democratic, so we are looking for an associate who is willing to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment. A student interested in education, education policy, and work with diverse intersectional marginalized communities is preferred.

Learning objectives:
By the end of this position assignment, the student will meet the following learning objectives
  1. The CEA is able to name at least one civic issue and articulate how various societal systems and processes address this (and other) civic issues.
  2. The CEA values collaborating with others, especially those individuals representing diverse cultures, races, ages, genders, religions, lifestyles, and viewpoints.
  3. The CEA demonstrates empathy, openness, inclusiveness, and sensitivity when working with diverse others.
  4. The CEA feels a sense of responsibility and commitment to use the knowledge gained in their higher education experiences to serve others.
