Industrial Engineering Intern - Fall 2021

As an Industrial Engineering intern, you will participate in our nationwide Internship & Co-Op Program, LEAP, where you will have the opportunity to Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our Louisville, KY facility. This position will be onsite at our Louisville facility. Relocation assistance will be offered if applicable, but housing is not provided. This position can be part time however full time (40 hours / week) is preferred if available.

As an Industrial Engineering intern, you will: 
  • Apply basic engineering design and/or analytical theory, principles, techniques, and practices to a limited portion of technical projects
  • Use Microsoft Access, Excel, Visio and Project to set up, organize and analyze technical information
  • Provide support to create and maintain statements of work
  • Update plant drawings using AutoCAD
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with safety policies and rules
  • Share responsibility for self-development with immediate supervisor
  • Provide technical support to Industrial Engineering and Continuous Improvement functions
  • Use IE and Lean tools to develop and improvement manufacturing processes, methods, and systems, and ensure outcomes meet requirements and expectations

Required Education, Experience, & Skills :
  • Currently pursuing an engineering degree with completion of at least four semesters toward a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or closely related fields
  • Excellent planning, time management, organization, and ability to handle simultaneous projects 
  • Detail oriented and dependable 
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) is required
  • Must have basic knowledge of fundamental engineering and Lean concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Effective communication skills in both written and spoken English
  • Work effectively with others

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills :
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Minitab experience 
  • Junior or Senior 
  • Previous internship experience in industrial engineering
