Family medicine is the medical specialty that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for individuals and families. This specialty integrates the biological, clinical and behavioral sciences and encompasses all ages and sexes, each organ system, and every disease entity. It is this combination that qualifies family medicine physicians to provide continuing and comprehensive medical care and health maintenance and preventive services to each member of a family regardless of patient type or problem be it biological, behavioral or social.

Purpose & Design
 
The HR intern is a unique learning experience for current IUPUI students within the Department of Family Medicine. The position will assist in daily human resource operations including exception requests, position postings, and applicant tracking; will assist with interview coordinating such as sending out pre-interview questions and scheduling interviews.; participate in HR departmental meetings and create, complete, and present project-based work to other team members, faculty, and department leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
·      Provides HR support to the department
·      Assist in creating postings in the TAM system
·      Coordinate interview process
·      Participates and presents in meetings with other department members
·      Performs essential HR tasks (scheduling interviews, applicant tracking, emailing, etc.)
 
Qualifications
 
Required Qualifications
·      Must be work study eligible.
·      Must be reliable and able to manage time to work on multiple projects.
·      Must be able to work independently and on a team.
·      Must have basic computer skills (emailing, zoom, etc.)
·      Must maintain a professional behavior and have the ability to adhere to the department’s business-casual dress code policy.
·      Must have professional written and oral communication skills.
·      Must have willingness and desire to learn.
·      Must have ability to maintain confidential information
 
Preferred Qualifications
·      Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs (especially excel).
·      Experience presenting project-based work.
·      Enrollment in a business or Human Resource area of study.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Gained in this Role:
Students will gain multiple different types of communication skills by participating and presenting in department meetings, communication and process improvements

Students will gain experience in how to stay organized and manage their time effectively by balancing various HR tasks in an office setting.

Students will gain exposure to university and health HR operations.
