Technology Assistant

General Purpose of Position:
The technology assistant will be responsible for assisting the classroom teacher and students in the operation of and maintenance of the school’s technology component. This employee will provide front-line technical assistance, training and support to teachers and students.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist students and teachers in locating and using media/technology
resources such as books, magazines, audiovisual and video materials,
computerized information databases, computer based learning programs and
related media/technology equipment
2. Plan, develop, and present media presentations for the daycare/after-school
program, partner organizations and funding partners
3. Maintain the development and design of the website for the childcare/after-
school program
4. Create and maintain promotional and advertising projects
5. Work closely with the pre-school and kindergarten teacher to create daily and
weekly lesson plans and technology projects that are curriculum based
6. Develop age-appropriate instructional strategies to achieve the technology
curriculum’s goals
7. Encourage students to express their own personalities and thoughts through
the creative process and technology
8. Provide preventive care and maintenance of childcare’s technology, materials,
equipment, and childcare furnishings. Show students how to care for and
maintain technology equipment and supplies
9. Assist school age children with homework and online
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
● Must qualify for the Federal Work Study Program
● Ability to lift and move computers and other potentially heavy technology
hardware
● Proficient computer skills and computer literacy.
● Excellent project management and organizational skills are essential
● Strong communication skills with ability to work with a team
● Must be accurate and detail oriented in the development and creation of
technology projects and designs
● Responsible for presenting design ideas to staff and administration
● Maintain all social media platforms for the childcare and after-school programs
● Creativity and enthusiasm when covering lesson plans and teaching children
about technology
● Excellent people skills, enthusiasm for helping children, respectful attitude
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience working with school age children (preferred, not required)
● Experience working with children age 3-5 (preferred, not required)
● Due to COVID-19, comfortable with shifting routines and school schedules
