Graduate Assistant

(1)  Campus Diversity Graduate Assistant
 
 
The graduate assistantship for the Offices of Student Life and Campus Diversity is a part-time 10-month academic year appointment. The graduate assistant will work approximately 20 hours per week. Hours may vary depending on programmatic needs with some weeks requiring more than 20 hours and other weeks requiring less. Supervision is provided by the Coordinator of Student Life and Campus Diversity. Graduate assistant will primarily assist the coordinator with programming responsibilities and supervision of office student employees.
 
Specific duties may include:
·      Assist students and offices with planning and implementing campus events
·      Assist with planning and implementation of social justice and civic engagement events, including but not limited to Constitution Day, election day, awareness months, and Angel Walk
·      Assist with and participate in Office of Student Life and Campus Diversity events including but not limited to Welcome Week, Activities Fair, Leadership Summit, speaker series, make and takes, and finals week
·      Special projects for which the department sees a need
·      Potential to co-advise a student organization
·      Assist with Student Life and Campus Diversity responsibilities in recruitment, retention, and presentations
·      Supervise student employees duties as assigned
·      Other duties as assigned in relation to the everyday business of Student Life and Campus Diversity
 
Minimum Required Qualifications
·      Bachelor’s degree
·      Enrolled in 9 credit hours per semester of an IU Kokomo master’s degree program
·      Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive students for reasons related to university business
·      Flexible work hours as some evening and weekend work may be required.
 
Preferred Qualifications
·      Experience in event planning
·      Involvement in campus activities as an undergraduate student
·      Strong attention to detail, organizational and communication skills
·      Ability to work with basic Microsoft programs including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
·      Attention to detail is of the utmost importance
 
Compensation and Benefits
·      In-state tuition for up to 9 credit hours per semester, depending on academic program requirements
·      Stipend of $800.00 month for 10 months
·      Graduate student health insurance
