Youth Outreach Co-Coordinator
This is a part time position working in the community, available to travel within Vigo and Sullivan County and to other locations in the state as needed for trainings, meetings, etc. Will work in consultation with the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Local Program Coordinator.
Physical lifting may be required for materials or AV equipment.
Youth Outreach Co-Coordinator will recruit and organize youth and adult representatives from the community to form a core youth team, plan youth recruitment activities, and engage youth in peer advocacy initiatives, including VOICE branded initiatives and capacity-building activities.
Youth Outreach Co-Coordinator will oversee arrangements for youth travel to advocacy and capacity-building opportunities outside of Vigo and Sullivan County.
Youth Outreach Co-Coordinator will assist with planning and execution of communications strategies targeting youth through various channels such as school, earned, and social media.
Youth Outreach Co-Coordinator will work with Sullivan/Vigo Co. Youth Outreach Co-Coordinator and other Lead Agency youth programs to involve middle and high school students in tobacco control/advocacy activities such as World No Tobacco Day public awareness events, state and regional webinar meet-ups, peer-to-peer education, legislator education, and media advocacy.
Additional programming duties may be assigned as needed.
The ideal candidate should have:
- A strong work ethic
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience recruiting and organizing volunteers
- An understanding of public health and/or political science
- Marketing and networking skills
- Experience with social media, media, policy advocacy, and/or political campaigns
- The ability to work independently
- Public speaking skills
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge of Vigo and Sullivan County communities
