Description
A great work environment for someone who likes friendly people and is a self-starter. We provide a safe place to work and are open to all people. Most custodial duties are manageable and not overly taxing for a healthy individual. The Head Custodian will maintain the functionality and aesthetics of the church building while maintaining a safe environment in the building and on the grounds. The Head Custodian is to ensure building cleanliness, security, and maintenance.
The janitorial position requires a positive team oriented attitude and the ability to prioritize tasks while working independently. Top candidates will have experience in general custodial and maintenance duties, be energetic, patient and have the ability to work a somewhat flexible schedule – Sundays and some evenings are required.

Responsibilities:
Must have experience to perform janitor cleaning duties, such as mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, washing walls and glass. Removing trash and recycling and transport to industrial bins. Dusting surfaces, ceilings, windows, and other cleaning as assigned to clean classrooms, kitchens, restrooms, common areas, windows, stairs, and other areas as needed.
Attend weekly Tuesday morning staff meeting.
Early riser on Sunday mornings! Candidate must unlock doors and adjust room temperatures for services, meetings, and events. The Lead Custodian must be comfortable working alone in the building and also when the building is full, always maintaining a sense of personal dignity and pride for the Methodist Church.
Assist with set up and tear down of large events, meetings and church events as assigned.
Perform routine light maintenance, notify management of needed repairs.
Maintain cleaning equipment and inventory of cleaning agents and custodial supplies. Responsible for the purchase of cleaning supplies and hospitality consumables.
Ensure equipment and lights are off, and rooms not in use are locked.
Inspect fire extinguishers & exit signs monthly and assist with monthly fire drills.
Must be able to collaborate with contract cleaning service, and other outside sales people while representing the church and its people with pride and consideration.

Requirements:
1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
Reliable and hardworking individual who understands his or her responsibility to the church staff and congregation.
Highly motivated to complete assigned tasks and present new ideas to supervisor. Happy to do physical work on a constant basis.
Ability to work with minimal supervision yet able to communicate and share ideas with a group.
Understand they may be asked to assist with special projects, events, and other duties. As part of the First Methodist staff they shall participate with a positive outlook and friendly attitude.
Ability to communicate with a variety of people through speaking, phone, email and written word. General knowledge of Microsoft office required.
Must be able to pass background check.
Preferred: bilingual English & Spanish speaker

Physical Demands
Bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, crouching, and stair climbing.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
