Quality Tech Warranty Inspection

The Quality Technician – RMA & Warranty Inspection is responsible for conducting teardown inspections and reporting for RMAs and Warranty (Carlyle Warranty returns, Special Inspections, and Customer Witness Inspections) as well as providing diagnosis support for the Remanufacturing Department. The Quality Technician will be located at Carrier’s Carlyle Syracuse, NY campus, with initial training to be conducted at Carlyle’s Stone Mountain, GA facility.
JOB DUTIES:

  • Conduct compressor and component failure analysis.
  • Review and evaluate claims that come to Carlyle.
  • Conduct teardown analyses of compressors returned from customer plant locations.
  • Conduct teardown analyses of compressors that failed in the field.
  • Create failure analysis reports based on teardown activity.
  • Warranty analysis based on failure analysis reports.
  • Lead and/or support root cause analysis and troubleshooting activities associated with teardown inspections and Reman manufacturing support.
  • Travel to customer locations for inspection, analysis, sorting, and containment activity.
  • Utilize the Windchill Product Lifecycle Management system to pull part drawings for review/analysis.
  • Reference Operational BOMs in a shared drive to assist in verifying components used to build Reman compressors and verify components as part of teardown inspection activity.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Electro/mechanical training or 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or service/repair setting is required.
  • Ability to read technical drawings - familiarity with GD&T (preferred but not required)
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel for documentation and data analysis is required.
  • Practical experience using problem-solving and clue generation tools including 8D, 5-Why, DMAIC, Red-X or 6-Sigma, IS-IS NOT, and/or fishbone analysis is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and precise in approach to work
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers
  • Ability to learn and follow complex work processes
  • Ability to work well as a team player, engaging with multiple disciplines (Eng., Quality, Operations)
  • Proficient in analyzing information using basic queries and spreadsheet tools Ability to present large volumes of data in summary format.
  • Experience with essential gauges for part layout and measurement (e.g., micrometers, verniers, dial indicators, and profilometers) is a plus.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • AAS degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Quality Engineering Technology is preferred, or a High School diploma with a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • A two-year degree in Industrial or Quality Engineering Technology is preferred.
  • ASQ Certification is a plus.
