Testing Center Receptionist /Proctor

The IUPUI Testing Center offers services to current and prospective students, faculty and staff, and the entire Indianapolis community. Our staff is dedicated to timely and reliable testing.

Testing Center Operating Hours: 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday; Friday and Saturday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm

Person would be responsible for following the policies and procedures of the SL070 testing lab. This lab administers computerized tests for IUPUI courses.
  • answer calls from students/faculty about SL070 operations and scheduling.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all testing materials, test logs, and other test documents.
  • Must be vigilant while checking in students and proctoring in the testing labs. 
  • Able to pay close attention to cheating or prevention of cheating; able to administer Testing Center rules.
  • Maintain a quiet atmosphere appropriate to testing.

Profiles of Undergraduate Learning:

Communicator: Employee will convey Testing Center procedures and policies to IUPUI students in a manner that will not elevate the stress level of the environment. Employee will communicate with students who possess varying levels of understanding of the English language. Therefore the student will need to speak clearly and precisely as to expectations. The employee will also need to listen carefully to student questions and concerns and respond appropriately.

Community Contributor: Employee will need to behave ethically in terms of treating all testers in a respectful and ethical manner. The employee must maintain ethical and privacy standards based upon student records and reactions while in the testing environment. The employee will also come into contact with students of diverse culture. Employee will treat all testers (regardless of culture) in a professional manner.

Problem Solver: The employee will be the first line of contact with testers while in the testing room. The student must be able to troubleshoot IT issues that may arise with IU technology systems. The employee must also know when to redirect or elevate the situation to the next line supervisor. 

Innovator: The employee will need to confront student and testing challenges on a daily basis. The employee will use best practice as well as look for new ways of solving situation while adhering the IUPUI Testing Center policies. The employee will also investigate testing issues to create a plan of action and to recommend procedures to lessen the probability of the situation reoccurring. 


Qualifications:
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
Previous test proctoring experience preferred
Ability to handle multiple priorities and have excellent customer relations skills.
