About Application Engineering: 
 
An SKF Application Engineer is an integral part of the sales team interfacing directly with customers, the local and global SKF engineering community, and the SKF global manufacturing units. They are the “front line” technical contact of the sales team responsible for enabling the sales effort by bringing all of SKF's resources and technical knowledge to the customer, providing solutions for both new and existing equipment. An Application Engineer must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. SKF employs a team concept where resolving technical challenges with both internal and external customers are necessary. 
 
SKF USA, Inc. is recruiting for an Application Engineer intern supporting the Industrial Market. This internship position is designed to give the candidate exposure to both technical and commercial sides of SKF. The internship program is based at SKF USA’s corporate headquarters located in Lansdale, PA, just outside of Philadelphia, PA. There will be another internship position located in Waukegan, IL. This internship program will focus on products and projects that will enhance the candidate’s engineering experience.
 
The successful candidate will be involved in real engineering projects. The successful candidate will have strong engineering skills as well as strong communication skills, including written, in person, or on the phone. We are also looking for someone who can manage their time and find the balance between working in a team and working independently.
 
Some of the things that the candidate will be doing:

  •  Communicating directly with our customer base to provide technical support (we will train you)
  •  Performing application reviews to select the product that best suits the application (we will train you)
  •  Trouble shooting and carrying out damage analysis to ascertain root cause (Think of it like CSI for the industrial world. We will train you)
  •  Liaise with the manufacturing group and provide them technical support (again, we will train and support you)
 
What sort of applications will you be working on?
