Community Program Coordinator Intern

Title: Community Program Coordinator Intern

Summary of Position Role/Responsibilities:
This position provides assistance to the Archdiocese schools and community partners in planning, developing, and conducting afterschool programming. The Community Partner Coordinator will: support school staff, community organizations, and volunteers in two school sites; travel to two school sites within Indianapolis; collect impact data for evaluation; and learn through on-the-job training. The intern must exhibit qualities of independent judgment and leadership skills.
 
Compensation:
$1250 per semester – expected time commitment is 12 hoursa week 
(Mon-Thu 3:00-6:00 p.m.)
 
Work Locations: 
St. Philip Neri and Central Catholic Schools or Holy CrossCentral and Holy Angels Catholic Schools (all in Indianapolis, Marion County)

Time Frame:
August – December 2021

Essential Job Duties: 
This position will coordinate and support the daily volunteers in the RightFit afterschool program who will be working in the Archdiocese school system.
 
Duties will include:
● Communicate regularly with RightFit executive director, Archdiocese school liaisons, Purdue Extension specialist, and IUPUI faculty coordinator regarding shared and specific duties
● Assist the RightFit executive director in the administration of the RightFit program
● Attend training sessions for RightFit volunteers in August 2021
● Work with assigned school liaisons to coordinate and schedule the placement of volunteers and community partners in needed areas
● Connect with community partners and volunteers in the schools on a regular basis to build strong relationships
● Act as a point person for volunteers and community partners during the program should questions or concerns arise
● Support volunteers and community partners to ensure a smooth operation of the program; report any problems to school staff and RightFit executive director
● Manage program documents including maintainingsign-in sheets and attendance records for volunteers and community partners
● Monitor and track program successes (including taking pictures); share progress with collaborators(RightFit, Archdiocese, Purdue Extension, IUPUI, Marian University, University of Indianapolis)
● Coordinate RightFit sponsors’ tours on occasion
● Work to increase parental involvement with Family Dinner events
● Attend follow-up conference calls andtrainings/meetings planned by RightFit
● Provide program progress feedback to RightFitexecutive director and Archdiocese school liaisons
● Assist 21st Century Community Learning Centers program evaluators with surveys and other data collection and coordination of evaluation data asneeded
● Complete other duties as assigned
 
Minimum Qualifications:
• College student in good standing – having completed at least 30 credit hours with a 3.0+ GPA
• Valid Indiana driver’s license
• Dependable transportation
• Ability to successfully pass a background check
• Strong organizational, self-directed, and follow-through skills
• Ability to relate effectively to youth and adults
• Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse team
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
 
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in human relations and/or youth development 
• Experience working with low-income youth and theirfamilies
• Experience in program planning and implementation
• Ability to effectively motivate and interact with groups encompassing a variety of audiences and educational levels
• A commitment to excellence
• Bi-lingual – Spanish preferred 
 
Other Work/Responsibilities:
• The position will be an integral part of the RightFit Program and will work closely with Purdue Extension staff as well as professional      staffand faculty in the Archdiocese Schools and various universities
• A moderate amount of travel within Marion County isexpected
