Part Time Clinical Services Assistant

Serves as one of the points-of-contact for individuals for the School of Optometry, Clinical Administration, faculty, staff, students, and patients. Meets and greets patients and inputs patient demographic and insurance data. Verifies insurance eligibility, schedules patient appointments, and triages ocular emergencies and coordinating care. Receives goods and enters into computer system and notify patients of materials to be picked up. Assists with medical records requests and patient referrals. Performs front office duties as determined by clinic supervisor.

Note: Clinic hours are 8am – 5pm Monday thru Friday This position may be scheduled up to 29 hours per week.

REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED and one year of office experience. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including a customer service orientation and ability to work well with a wide range of diverse clientele in a diplomatic manner. Ability to perform multiple/concurrent tasks in a busy interactive environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining confidentiality in all capacities of position to comply with federal and state regulations. Good organizational skills and intermediate computer skills. Delivers excellent patient care and demonstrates a team attitude.

Preferred: Six months of experience in a medical environment or with medical records; hands-on experience with a practice management system. Customer service experience, intermediate computer skills, understanding of medical chart maintenance and insurance; Intermediate software packages – Microsoft Office Suite.
