Part-Time Laboratory Assistant

Overview: The CTSL - Clinical and Translational Sciences Support Laboratory is a part of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI). The CTSI is a statewide collaboration of scientists at Indiana University, Purdue University and the University of Notre Dame, as well as public and private partnerships. One of the goals of the CTSI is to help translate scientific discoveries made in the laboratory into new treatments for patients in Indiana and throughout the world.

Part-time Laboratory Assistant responsibilities include:
  • Inventory/document sample IDs and storage locations in -80C freezers. Report findings to manager and senior lab tech. 30%
  • Assist with administrative tasks including data entry and document management. 60%
  • General lab duties. 10%
Equipment utilized: Computer, bar code scanner; laminar flow hood; ULT freezers and associated storage/racking systems; personal protective equipment.

Qualifications:
Candidates must possess:
Attention to detail.
Ability to receive instruction and work independently.
Excellent work ethic.
No experience necessary.
Must have basic computer skills; prefer experience using databases (Excel a must). Must show initiative, personal responsibility and organization, ability to work/communicate effectively with multiple supervisors.
