Sex Offender Technician - Part Time

SALARY: $22.21 Hourly

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Registers, tracks, and locates convicted sex offenders in El Paso County as provided by law. Organizes and maintains databases; provides administrative support to the Sex Offender Registration Unit of the Sheriff’s Office (EPSO).

• Organizes, updates, and maintains the EPSO Sex Offender Registry in various databases.
• Interviews convicted registered juvenile and adult sex offenders (misdemeanor, felony).
• Collects and records offender registration fees.
• Digitally fingerprints and photographs registered sex offenders and other defendants.
• Requests records and court dispositions on registered sex offenders from outside agencies.
• Prepares address verification field packets for Patrol Deputy home visits and similar packets for Detentions Deputies in registering jail inmates.
• Prepares and mails letters via certified mail to registered sex offenders who have failed to register.
• Fingerprints new El Paso County Sheriff's Office employees and other employees.
• Assists evidence technicians in logging evidence received from the Metro Crime Laboratory as required.
• Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent education required; Associate’s degree in business administration or related field preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years administrative office experience, including clerical and typing duties.
• Must be honest, truthful, trustworthy, and possess a high degree of personal integrity.
• Knowledge of office policies and procedures and state statutes.
• Ability to effectively operate office equipment including computers, printers, digital cameras, calculators, and copy machines.
• Ability to type 40 words per minute (wpm).
• Must possess strong data entry skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to perform under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.
• Possess excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently without supervision.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and interact professionally with the general public.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, truth verification examination, and drug screen.

WORK CONDITIONS:
Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Works daily with convicted sex offenders. This is a part-time position regularly working 25 hours per week.
