Assistant Shop Technician (Ceramics) | IUPUI - Herron School of Art & Design

General purpose- To monitor and assist in maintaining the studio including a full glaze lab, an outdoor kiln area, and five different types of kilns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Mixing clay

· Mixing glaze

· Loading unloading and firing kilns

· Maintaining kiln furniture

· Cleaning and organizing studio

Desired minimum qualifications:

Must be enrolled at Herron School of Art & Design.

Ceramic experience (beginning level)

Learning Outcomes:

Students will learn how to be better communicators by building relationships with peers and fellow students.

Students will build organizational skills and gain technical and material working knowledge related to ceramics production in a shared studio environment.
