Graduate Assistant for Campus Center & Student Employment

Work Schedule: 20 hours per week, available to work nights and weekends as needed.
Anticipated Start Date: August 1, 2021 (negotiable)

General Purpose:
The Graduate Assistant for Campus Center Student Employment is a two-year leadership position with a high degree of responsibility in the areas of facility management, supervision, training, and leadership development. This position will serve as the Graduate Building Manager and work with student employment initiatives for the Campus Center & Student Experiences department.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
·        Serve as the Graduate Building Manager, including operational management of the Campus Center, direct staff supervision, customer service, problem solving, and implementation of emergency management procedures.
·        Assist with the planning and implementation of bi-weekly Building Manager meetings and creation of the Building Manager work schedule
·        Planning and implement monthly All-Team meetings and coordinate August and January All-Team Training sessions.
·        Supervise the Student Employment Program Assistants and oversee the Campus Center Student Employment hiring and on-boarding processes.
·        Manage the Campus Center & Student Experiences student employee recognition program
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Acceptance into and continuous enrollment in a graduate program through IU or IUPUI.
 
Undergraduate involvement in campus activities, student union/campus center operations, programming board, residence life, fraternity/sorority life, or similar co-curricular activities. Experience in customer service or hospitality related field. Experience scheduling and delivering training programs a plus. Committed to working with a diverse staff and serving a diverse population of clients and guests.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to take initiative and work independently as well as the ability to effectively collaborate with others; ability to anticipate and recognize problems and identify effective solutions; ability to oversee multiple projects at once; ability to lean new technology and software programs as required; ability to move and setup furniture (up to 50lbs0 and technology equipment as needed; ability to maintain a flexible schedule – working evenings and/or weekends as needed/required.
 
Compensation:
$1,000.00 monthly stipend for 10 months; nine (9) credit hours of in-state tuition remission each fall/spring semester; student health insurance.
