Part-time Vector Control Technician

Students majoring in Biology, Entomology, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Public Health or closely related field
• Incumbent serves as Vector Control Technician, conducts field surveillance and performs appropriate activities and procedures to control mosquito activity and prevent possible outbreaks of related diseases.
• Inspects and monitors known and reported mosquito breeding areas, assesses appropriate methods for control, and applies proper control and / or eradication techniques.
• Apply larvicide chemicals to identified mosquito breeding sites to prevent the emergence of adult biting mosquitoes.
• Collect mosquito larval samples and sort adult mosquito collections prior to identification.
• Place gravid traps, and other monitors in selected areas to capture mosquito eggs and adults to determine mosquito population levels.
• Inspect, maintain, and use all personal protective equipment required to perform job duties.
• Maintain detailed computer records and organized document and record files for all activities as required.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Duties may involve standing/walking for long periods, walking on uneven terrain, pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying objects weighing less than 50 pounds,
 
crouching/kneeling, bending and reaching.
• Possession of a valid Indiana driver's license, and demonstrated safe driving record.
