Purchasing Intern
The role of a Commodity Purchasing Intern is to assist with the day to day responsibilities within the Purchasing Group, including:
- Aid in the strengthening of the steel commodity organization by supporting key strategic initiatives to improve supplier performance, contract management, savings and cash flow improvements across North America.
- Lead purchasing specific projects within the steel commodity for cost savings and process improvements. These projects include conducting data analysis and evaluation, developing a steel allocation database, market benchmarking, supplier contracts, integration of internal customers, and savings achievement declared into the P&L.
- Support activities across all plants in all regional business units to maintain day-to-day operations and to support cost savings initiatives.
- Data management – improving accuracy of current data set using information pulled from ERP systems, technical specifications from prints and direct communication with the supply base.
Panel management – Assist with maintenance of the supplier panel.
