Funding Research Intern

POSITION PURPOSE / SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the CEO and CFO with a project dedicated to researching local nonprofit funding. This position is remote and only paid through EARN Indiana (Indiana resident attending an Indiana-located college/university). If unsure of your eligibility, register on Indiana INTERNnet

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 This internship will give an inside look into how a small, local nonprofit finds and receives funding. The project is meant to compare how other agencies similar to COA are being funded and where the funds come from. The end goal is to make this a presentation for securing grants for Council on Aging of Elkhart County as previous research shows we are underfunded comparatively. Research will likely change how COA makes decisions in the future.

  • Investigate tax forms of nonprofits.
  • Create visually pleasing reports, graphs, and presentations.
  • Research demographic data.
  • Contact local agencies related to the aging and disabled to gather data and information.
  • Research new funding avenues.
  • Assist with grant writing and submissions.
  • Work with other interns on research as assigned.
  • Any other tasks assigned by CEO and CFO.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Required to be EARN Indiana eligible, otherwise unpaid. If unsure, register on Indiana INTERNnet.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Creativity and analytical skills to turn data into answers.
  • Ideal candidate has baseline knowledge of nonprofit, government funding.
