GIS Remote Work Study Intern

GIS Intern

Work study position Near IUPUI Campus

Salary: $12.50 per hour
Approximate Hours Per Week:
· Minimum of 10+ hours per week with flexible start and end times (depending on class schedule)
· More hours preferred.

Description of Organization:
MESH Coalition is a non-profit, public-private partnership that coordinates, supports and strengthens healthcare and related entities to mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from the effects of emergency and crisis incidents. MESH provides: (1) preparedness and planning services; (2) innovative education, training and exercise programs; (3) healthcare intelligence services and (4) regulatory and policy analysis – all in support of comprehensive healthcare sector emergency management. MESH serves as the Marion County Medical Multiagency Coordination Center.
 
Description of Internship:
The intern may work at MESH headquarters in Indianapolis, or virtually, assisting in daily activities, researching, writing and communications efforts, incident monitoring, and preparedness projects that build, strengthen and promote the sustainability of healthcare coalitions. 

Duties may include:
· Identify problems and answer questions using quantitative and/or qualitative data
· Identifying datasets, shapefiles, etc.
· Preparing data
· Analyzing data
· Visualizing insights
· Presenting findings
· Forecasting
· Create, prepare and maintain GIS layers, applications and data sets for various projects
· Identifying and collecting information for projects/services
· Researching topics as needed by MESH staff, as well as Executive Summaries for MESH Grand Rounds presentations, including interacting with subject matter experts
· Managing knowledge
· Attending meetings with MESH staff and/or stakeholders

Required Qualifications:
• Understanding of fundamentals in mapping, cartography, and geospatial data management with proven experience utilizing the ESRI ArcGIS platform
• Experience producing maps using ArcGIS
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skillset
• Ability and willingness to make phone calls and attend meetings
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Attention to detail
• Self-motivated
• Resume and GIS Work Sample required
• Signed confidentiality agreement required
• Must provide dates of immunizations with medical documentation for: Current Tdap vaccine (given within the past 10 years), 2 Varicellla vaccines, 2MMR vaccines and Meningitis ACWY vaccine, tuberculin skin test, and influenza vaccination (during flu season)
